"Warrior in the Garden" (for Veteran's Day)
I am the acclaimed Warrior in the Garden
but I'm now stuck with no function,
there was a life where I could sprout my creations
that era is no longer, my own impending dysfunction.
I may not smile for my fangs have served purposes of giving damnation.
I envy the water, for they know a reason
to fall from the heavens, cascade unto Earth,
a blessing,
though the grief of having admitted to drown
or simply to be absent in drought.
I may no longer keep the satisfaction for creation
for I have long squandered and taken,
for my palms had appropriated strange spirit,
I have done no transgression
though I sincerely feel it.
though my grip is proven far too harsh
to handle the lives so thin and sparce,
I've stood nearby and begged no man's pardon
for I am the warrior, who looks over the garden.
