Leonard’s current works are painterly, animated, structural, bodily and organismal. In remerging compositions, one finds the synthesis of ubiquitous, trivial, marginal, shattered and displaced. Leonard’s paintings are imbued with the conscious and subconscious, the associative flashbacks and the historical and social references. The coloristic spectrum of his works moves from post-impressionistic melodramatic palette to lurid psychedelic hues. Leonard’s visual vocabulary includes fragmented compositions, mental transfers and cognitive labyrinths. The works translate sensations of pathology, psychology, melancholy, rhythm, flicker, tension and realization.
